# Anyone Home? > A playful thought experiment for adults: list up to six everyday things, answer six plain questions about each, and see which buzzer on a brass intercom panel lights up - lights on, someone stirring, porch light only, or nobody home. URL: https://anyone-home.skillsafe.ai/ API tutorial: https://anyone-home.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## What it does - You list things (a thermostat, a sourdough starter, a sat-nav, a choir) with an optional line on what each does. - For each thing you answer six lenses with No, A little or Clearly: news reaches all of it; splitting it loses something; it feeds back into itself; it keeps tabs on itself; it keeps itself going; it shows what it is like. They are plain-language versions of ideas used by theories of consciousness. - Free, in the browser: lamp points (No 0, A little 1, Clearly 2; 0-12 per thing), a verdict with fixed rules (9+ lights on, 6-8 someone stirring, 3-5 porch light only, 0-2 nobody home), the strongest lens, the thing most at home, an SVG/PNG panel, and Markdown, CSV and JSON downloads. - Metered (one run on gpt-terra): a reading per thing built from your own answers, one imagined change that would move it a band, and a one-line insight. The run never changes the page's verdicts and never claims anything is or is not conscious. ## Contract POST https://api.skillsafe.ai/v1/app-api/run with string fields: task = "read-things", things (one numbered line per thing with its six answers), facts (the page's lamp points, verdicts, strongest lenses, counts and the thing most at home). The reply is one JSON object: {task, headline, things: [{name, verdict, reading, flip, insight}], closing}. ## Notes A thought experiment, not science and not a test of any person's or animal's awareness or health.
